Abstract
One of the key aspects of educational experience of infant-toddler centers and preschools in
Reggio Emilia in Italy is the unique approach to the professional development of all educators. Staff
development in Reggio Emilia is considered as ongoing, evolutionary process that is intrinsic part of
teachers’ daily life. In such a view development of educators is connected with educational research
based on collegiality, interaction and participation. The article presents the idea of staff development
in the context of the specific role of teachers and the whole experience of Reggio Emilia.
