The issue of innovation in science and technology management represents the nature of the free market economy. The creation of knowledge is one of the main tasks of higher education. Knowledge needs to be transformed. In the time of globalization and integration of Polish economy with the European Union tempo of knowledge, technology transfer and implementation of innovation are one of the company competitive advantages. The book Knowledge and technology commercialization – stimulants and strategies focuses on technology commercialization, the transfer of knowledge from universities to enterprises, new technology firm developments, barriers and stimulators for innovative industry enterprises. The commercialization of technology includes an increasing ability to generate new products. The purpose of this paper is to provide scientists and entrepreneurs with comprehensive information which will aid in their understanding of the stimulants and barriers in Polish, European and world perspectives and presents a case studies focusing on knowledge and technology transfer components. The book is divided into five parts. The first part of the paper begins by outlining the essential aspects of commercialization, technology transfer and marketing of hightech products. The second part focuses on the commercialization determinants and strategies in regional economy, enterprises and research organizations. The third chapter indicates the methodology of technology market potential assessment. The fourth one aims at analyzing the stimulants and barriers for commercialization and technology transfer in the enterprises, research and innovation and business development organizations based on the market research. The barriers and stimulants are chosen after interviewing 670 interviewers from 43 countries. The fifth part presents the five case studies on the spin-off company operating in the nanotechnology sector, enterprise developing new products based on technology transfer from university, global company introducing innovation on international market, technology based on PCT patents and technology standard implementing into Polish cinema sector. The paper allows to draw important insights into the development mechanism by which Polish scientists and entrepreneurs build up their competences and enter into high-tech international markets.
