Doświadczenie choroby Alzheimera jako topos w filmowym dyskursie ostatniej dekady

Abstract

The aim of this article is a sociological analysis of feature movies from the last decade that address the problem of Alzheimer’s disease. In the first part, the author presents the social implications of the disease, which is characterized by irreversible neurodegenerative changes in brain tissue. The second – theoretical and methodological – part is devoted to the sociological perspective in movie research and the presentation of the author’s research strategy. The main part is an analysis of several selected threads discussed in the movies; the author characterizes the characters and their behavior in the presented fictional world as well as the interactions between the sick and their caregivers. She shows the struggle for subjectivity and dignity as well as the efforts of family members to slow down the progressive mental disintegration of a loved one. An important part of the analysis is the comparison of the fictional world with reality and the emphasis on the relevant socially-referential function of artistic discourse.

Celem artykułu jest socjologiczna analiza filmów fabularnych z ostatniej dekady, poruszających problem choroby Alzheimera. W pierwszej części autorka prezentuje społeczne implikacje choroby, której istotą są nieodwracalne zmiany neurodegeneracyjne tkanki mózgowej. Część druga – teoretyczno-metodologiczna – poświęcona jest socjologicznej perspektywie w badaniu filmu oraz prezentacji autorskiej strategii badawczej. Część główną stanowi analiza kilku wybranych wątków poruszanych w filmach. Autorka charakteryzuje bohaterów i ich zachowania w fikcyjnym świecie przedstawionym oraz interakcje pomiędzy chorymi i ich opiekunami. Ukazuje walkę o podmiotowość i godność oraz starania członków rodziny o spowolnienie postępującej dezintegracji psychicznej u bliskiej osoby. Istotną część analizy stanowi porównanie fikcyjnego świata z rzeczywistością i podkreślenie relewantnej społecznie funkcji artystycznego dyskursu.
